Obituary

Mrs. James Harold Mason, Sr., (Golden Eberhardt), 78, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005, in Denver, Colorado. Her funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe and the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III officiating. Immediately following the service, Mrs. Mason was taken to Atlanta to Arlington Memorial Park, where she was laid to rest at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2005.

Dale Pflug, Wilbur Webb, Dr. Joe Turner, Dr. John McCoy, Ralph Edward and Dr. Alberto Espinola served as pallbearers. Honorary escorts were members of the Kicklighter Sunday School Class at Tifton's First Baptist Church.

Bron July 31, 1918, in Jackson County, Mrs. Mason was the daughter of the late Lint W. Eberhardt, Sr. and Josephine Wheeler Eberhardt. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years. James Harold Mason, Sr.; four brothers, Judge Homer C. Eberhardt, Dr. Guy W. Eberhardt, Dr. Reese Eberhardt and Lint W. Eberhardt, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth Chastain and Ira Foster. She graduated from the University of Georgia Phi Kappa Phi and held memberships in her professional organizations. She taught school for more than 30 years, mostly in Atlanta.

Mrs. Mason is survived by two sons, Dr. James Harold Mason, Jr. of Denver, Colorado and Dr. Charles Warren Mason of Bigfork, Montana; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeannette Seaton of Hartwell; and several nieces and nephews.
