Robert Ralph Marchant, 82, of Tifton passed away Monday, January 24, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Howell and the Rev. Gary Minton officiating. Mr. Marchant was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Carl Goodwin, Fred Barnes, Carl Marchant, Paul Moyer, Steve Hudson and Oren Marchant, Jr. served as pallbearers.
Born September 2, 1922, in Tift County, Mr. Marchant was the son of the late Thomas Clayton Marchant and Callie Bass Marchant. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Before retiring, he was the Parts Department Manager at Kennon Tractor Company; and he was a member of Damascus Methodist Church in Worth County. He was also a United States Army veteran and served in World War II.
Mr. Marchant is survived by his wife, Agnes Jean Maddox Marchant of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sue Marchant of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Wayne Musselwhite of Tifton; one brother, Oren Marchant of Tifton; one sister, Grace Smith of Norriston; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
