Kurt R. Robohm, 55 of Quincy, MA passed away on Nov 7, 2023, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham after recently being diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer. He was born Sept. 14, 1968, in Brockton, MA, the son of Robert and Betsy (Ewell) Robohm. The family is both devastated and shocked by his untimely death and would like to express their gratitude for all the support and visitors that were received over the past month.
Kurt grew up in Hanson, MA and graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Class of 1986. In his time at WHRHS he excelled with his participation with Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). Kurt's exuberance and intelligence in this realm led him to be elected and serve as Chapter President and travel to compete in various levels of competition at conferences held in Mass., Atlanta, Washington, D.C and San Francisco. This garnered him many awards, trophies and ultimately a college scholarship. He went on to Johnson & Wales University in RI, where he studied Finance and Business Management. Kurt most recently worked at State Street Corporation for over 20 years as a Client Service Officer, prior to that he worked in the restaurant and hospitality business with such companies as Brigham's, Uno's, Chili's and several private country clubs in the Boston area. While working for Uno's Corporate he would travel the United States extensively and abroad to open new restaurants and train all the bar staff. While working abroad Kurt found his time in Seoul, Korea to be not only be an amazing cultural experience, but one full of comedic material for lifelong stories.
Kurt took great pleasure in playing golf with friends and family, his dart league and spending time with his niece and two nephews. He was an avid reader, a marvel at crossword puzzles, an indispensable prep cook at family gatherings and was known to thoroughly enjoy trivia or a competitive game of cribbage. Kurt was loved for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and ability to paint a vivid picture in his detailed story telling but most of all he will always be remembered for his willingness to offer a helping hand.
Kurt is survived by his sister, Helen Bias and husband, Timothy; nephews, Nathaniel and Finnaes; niece, Emerson of Hingham, MA; and his "brother from another mother", Cecil Valiente.
In addition to his paternal and maternal grandparents, Kurt was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Betsy (Ewell) Robohm.
An Interment of Ashes will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 ,2023, at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 227 Central Street, Abington, MA 02351. Immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the Banner Cafe & Restaurant, 167 Union Street, Rockland, MA 02370. All Are welcome to attend both the ceremony and celebration.
