Diana (Hersey) Carter, 87, of Mendon, MA passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023. Diana was the loving wife of the late William R. Carter Jr. for 55 years.
Diana is survived by her four children William “Rusty” Carter and his wife Caroline Carter of Warwick, RI, Cynthia P. Carter of Punta Gorda, FL, Linda H. Scanlan and her husband William F. Scanlan of Harrisville, NH and Bryan W. Carter and his wife Elizabeth M. Carter of Byfield, MA. Diana was the proud grandmother of Jennifer Chevrefils, Lisa Bonina, Stephen Tettke, Heather Adamski, Sarah Anderson, Andrew Scanlan, Daniel Scanlan, Rylie Carter and Timothy Carter and great-grandmother to 12.
Diana is survived by siblings Karen Hersey of Nelson, NH and David Hersey who resides in California. Diana is predeceased by a brother, Richard Hersey. She will be cherished by her extended family including Stephen Carter and his wife Joan Carter of Destin, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Diana was a true caregiver starting as a candy striper at Glover Memorial Hospital, she found her passion as a nursery school teacher in Wellesley and later as a aid to adults with special needs. In retirement, she volunteered at Milford Regional Hospital and was an active member of the Mendon Senior Center where she organized annual events and sang in the choir.

A funeral service will be held on November 15, 2023 at 10am in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley, MA. A private burial will follow.
