Obituary


Helen was a long time resident of Stonington and surrounding areas. After retiring from General Dynamic in 1997 she moved to Huntington Beach California to be closer to her relatives. Helen passed away in a California hospital with her immediate family at her side.

Helen was born and raised in Schenectady NY. There she meet and married Jack B. Johnson. They later moved to the Mystic area where both worked for Electric Boat. She enjoyed the relationships with her co-workers during and after work. At work she was active in organizing special celebrations such as retirement parties for her colleagues.

After moving to California, Helen was very active and acquired many new friends. Her new friends called her "My Helen". She also traveled extensively throughout the western states, made a few trips back to the East Coast, and took a toured through Europe. She loved to go 4-wheeling through the desert and also explored most of the national parks from Mexico north all the way to and including Canada.

Her husband, Jack, died on APril 4, 1994. Helen is survived by an only child, R.C. Johnson, grand daughter Monique Johnson, two brothers, brother and sister in-laws, many nieces and cousins.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Stonington on Thursday at 10am. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
