Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Van A. Marshall, 64, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Chicopee on July 14, 1959, a beloved son of the late Willard G. and Elizabeth A. (Cartledge) Marshall. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had moved to South Hadley in 2017. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Marion Excavation and had previously worked at Ondrick Construction Company for the majority of his career. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During his leisure time, Van enjoyed golfing and fishing, cheering on his New York Yankees and Giants and sharing a can of Budweiser with his family and friends over a game of pool. Van treasured his time with those he loved most, especially his beloved wife and best friend, Joanne M. (Bazinet) Marshall. They were married on April 19, 1986 at Saint Anne Church and were blessed with over 37 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving daughter, Jordan Marshall, her partner Alex Parnicky and his son, Brayden, of Chicopee; his dear brother, Michael “Micky” Marshall of Chicopee; his four devoted sisters, Dale Marshall of South Hadley, Alexis Germana and her husband Mark, and Allison Beaudoin, all of Chicopee and Kellie Jenks and her husband, Phil, of Deerfield; his dear mother in law, Mary A. (Lucero) Bazinet of Chicopee; his two brothers in law, Mark Bazinet and his wife, Kim, of Vancouver, WA and Michael Bazinet and his wife, Susan, of Whispering Pines, NC. He also leaves his former son in law, Andrew McConaha of Chicopee; and loved his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Van will be reunited with his loving son, Aaron Van Marshall who was Called Home on October 27, 2015; He also joins his younger brother, David Marshall; his dear father in law, Roland L. Bazinet, Jr.; his sister in law, Lori Moreau and his two brothers in law, Stephen Beaudoin and Steven Vlohiotis in eternal rest. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the D’Amour Cancer Center, Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
