Raymond Jones, 80, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton. His funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005, ay Fourth Street Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Chuck Yzenski, the Rev. Curtis Mixon and the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Mr. Jones was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Chris Hasty, Glenn Hasty, Andrew Jones, Roger Martin, Bryce Kennedy, Will Lambert, Austin Martin and Griffin Martin served as pallbearers.
Born June 26, 1924, in Tift County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Otis Herbert Jones, Sr. and Betty Elizabeth Griner Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Felts Jones, who passed away on May 1, 1995; one brother, Willis Jones. He was a retired postmaster; and he was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church in Tifton. He served in the United States Navy during World War II; and he was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Susan Jones of Marietta and Kenny and Sandi Jones of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Wanda and Kano Goff and Karen Hasty, all of Tifton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Otis Herbert Jr. and Jackie Jones of Tifton and Virgil Jones of Blakely; three sisters-in-law Nellie Jack Felts of Moultrie, Bonnie Felts Roller of Macon and Jean Jones Dixon of Alapaha; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
