SACO- Carol “Brindi” Elaine Soule, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, at her home. She was born in Yakima, Washington on October 10, 1936, daughter of the late Arthur and Stella (Blocker) Dahl. While still quite young, her family moved to Victorville, CA where she graduated from high school. On her high school graduation night, she married Irving Soule of Saco, who was stationed at the Air Force base in her town. After he finished his military service, they moved to Maine where she loved the greenery after living so many years on the high desert. She found the cold, snowy Maine winters challenging though.
She worked at several different places in many capacities including as a secretary, a jewelry associate at the Maine Mall JC Penney, a teacher’s aide at the Saco Middle School, and as visiting nurse in the York County area.
She loved to garden and was especially proud of her stunning zinnias and beautiful organic vegetable garden. Watching it grow was a favorite pastime. She loved playing games (especially video and card games) and doing jigsaw puzzles, often for marathon lengths of time. Her fondness for animals was well known. Lil Bit, her beloved and faithful cat, is at a loss without her. She enjoyed learning and attended night classes in earlier years. She loved to read, practice yoga, and indulge in a treasured hot fudge sundae with extra fudge sauce. Her homemade chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese were legendary. She loved her family deeply and was well loved.
She is predeceased by her 2 sisters: Margie Luster of CA and Doris Duval of AZ, and her daughter, Sherilyn Marie (Soule) Gagnon, who passed away in 1989. She is survived by her caring husband of almost 70 years, Irving Soule; her children – Cathi Soule, David Soule and his partner Judy Milliard, and Deborah Soule; and her grandchildren - Mark Gagnon and his fiancée Johanna (Josie) Lavender, Chelsea (Soule) Savoy and her wife Chelsea Savoy, and Joel Soule.
As per her wishes, there will be no public service. Burial will be at the South Buxton Cemetery. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a local animal shelter of choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton, www.mainefuneral.com
