Obituary

Dean Angus Mark, known to the family as “Mackie,” was a loving husband who loved his wife, children & family. Dean was a family man who expressed his love by cooking. Some men speak of love, but his love language was more of an action. He would cook with love, such love that it would heal people and misunderstood souls. Cooking was his passion. Dean had a caring spirit that was adored by many, and with his beautiful smile and forgiving heart, he will always and forever be cherished.

Dean was born in Trinidad, on August 25, 1963 to the late Victor Mark and Ruby Mark. In 1974, he migrated to the United States with his parents and siblings. Dean had four siblings, (brothers) Junior Alexis and Stephen Mark, and (sisters) Glorine Alexis, and the late Charmaine Mark.

On July 24, 1993, Dean married the love of his life, Bernice, and the two became a blended family of three children: Brandon, Dyonnie, and Charneyee’. Dean had grandchildren that loved and adored him, they called him “Papa” Nevaeh, Zaniah, Brandon, Jerrell, Zamar, Ahmunet and Anubis.

Dean attended East Boston High and was on the varsity basketball team. He was competitive when it came to sports and everyone who knew him understood his passion, you would’ve thought he was a sideline virtual coach.

Dean was a gifted dreamer, He opened a food business that expanded well over ten years, Dean’s Professional Catering, which specialized in Caribbean & American dishes. In 2014 he retired as a head chef at the Hope House of Boston. Over the years, Dean encountered life challenges, but he always tried his best to be strong and stay his course. He was a fighter and will always be. His strength and determination to live was nothing I’d ever seen nor imagined; no matter the obstacles, he was determined to live, even if it was for a bit longer. You inspired many with your determination and strength.

My Dear husband, who departed from this life on Thursday November 2, 2023, you have fought a good fight, this battle is no longer yours, it belongs to the lord. Now that you are at peace, you can rest your beautiful soul.
