Jacqueline Marie Kinney (92) died after a long illness in a Hospice in Sebring, Florida with sons Michael and Stephen by at her side. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts to Richard and Marion (Helie) Shea, Jackie graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester in 1948. As a girl she loved to visit her grandfather’s farm in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire.
In 1951 her brother David brought home a Navy buddy Frank Kinney who fell in love with Jackie during that visit. Jackie and Frank Kinney were married on May 1, 1954, and began a life filled with children and many moves throughout New England because of Frank’s success working for W.T. Grant Company, and other business ventures. Michael was their first born in 1956, then Robert in 1957, Stephen in 1958, and Jacqueline in 1965. Jackie was a devoted mother, instinctively kind and compassionate passing on those traits to all her children. While raising her children the family lived for several years in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, upstate New York and Waterville Maine, a place so loved the family moved back after Frank left Grants.
In retirement, they settled in Brookfield, Massachusetts, where Jackie and Frank were instrumental in the establishment of the Nanatomqua Park Cooperative as a resident-owned community. As with all the places they lived, Jackie made lasting and valued friendships and would frequently be seen – and heard – hanging out with her friends, ribbing them with her sharp wit and wonderful laugh. Her nieces and nephews loved her for her humor and sometimes caring scolding which showed how she wanted them to grow up well.
Jackie was predeceased by her loving husband Frank in 2015, and by her brothers Richard Shea, Leon (James) Shea, David Shea, and her loving sisters Elaine Daubney and Ann Hennigan. Her sisters-in-law Betty (Richard), Charlene (James), and Isabell (David) also predeceased her, as did her brothers-in-law Walter Daubney (Elaine) and Robert Hennigan (Ann). Jackie is survived by her brother Robert Shea, and her children Jacqueline Kinney, Michael and Rochelle Kinney, Robert and Kay Kinney, Stephen Kinney and Ricky Pang, and grandchildren Madeline Schroter, Isla McClung, Kennan McClung, Declan & Monica McClung, Christopher Kinney and Samantha McDermott, Matthew Kinney and Kaylen Kennedy, Moses Kinney and Alex Beebe and her great-granddaughter Maddison Kinney. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jackie Bender and Sandy Bender, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral is Monday, November 13th, from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Sunday, November 12th, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Michael J.
