James E. Petersen, 82, passed away on Nov.2, after a brief illness. He is survived by Penny, his wife of 60 years and 9 months; his children Katherine, James, Jr. and Steven; their spouses Ernest, Michelle and Jessica; and grandchildren Patrick, Kyle and Ursula. He was the loving son of the late Elliot C. and Mary A. Petersen and was predeceased by his sister Rita Steere and grandson James III.
He was a draftsman and sales engineer for BIF Industries but left that profession to follow his dream, farming. He was a 30 year volunteer for the Harmony Fire Department, never failing to answer the call. He taught First Aid, Advanced First Aid and EMT classes and became Deputy Chief. He enjoyed playing softball for town teams and was Zoning Inspector for Glocester. Beloved by his family and respected by all, Jim will be sorely missed.
A private remembrance will be held according to Jim’s wishes.
