Lott, Andrew W. On November 5, 2023, Andy Lott, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away after a courageous battle with appendiceal cancer.
Born on August 12,1950, the son of the late Lena (Romak) and Gordon Lott, Andy grew up in Vancouver, Canada with a loving family and wonderful childhood friends that remain a close-knit group of fun and loyal supporters. After graduating from Eric Hamber High School and University of British Columbia in Vancouver, he had a successful and fulfilling career in accounting at Thorne Ryddell, KPMG, and BC Hydro.
While in New York on a business trip, he met his wife Liz (Flynn), and three years later moved to New York and married the love of his life. Soon thereafter they became devoted and loving parents to their son, Spencer, and daughter, Grace, and treasured their time together as a family in New York City, Little Beach, and Westport, MA.
Andy enriched the lives of all who knew him with his great sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and many passions including cooking, fishing, birding, photography, crossword puzzles and, yes, pickling. He believed preparing great food for others was a way of showing his love, which he did often by serving amazing dinners or sharing his famous peanut brittle and dill pickles.
Above all else he loved his family and his friends. He couldn’t have been a more devoted and engaged father who fueled the passions and interests of his children and created wonderful memories with special traditions and activities throughout their lives. Andy was most proud of the young adults Spencer and Grace have become.
In addition to his wife Liz and children Spencer and Grace, Andy will be missed and live on in the memories of his surviving family in British Columbia including brother Richard Lott and wife Deidre, brother Douglas Lott and wife Melanie, and sister Sharon Peers and husband Sherwood. He was predeceased by his brother James Lott. Andy will also always be cherished by his in laws including Sheila Flynn-Billig and her husband Paul Billig, Ed Flynn and his wife Mary Ellen, and Peter Flynn, by his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and of course, by his many friends, who were truly like family to him.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 15th at the St. Jean Baptiste Church, 184 East 76th Street in New York City with a reception to follow for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is an option.
