BETTY J. “MAW” (WOLFE) SIFORD OBITUARY
Betty J. “Maw” (Wolfe) Siford, 89, of Burnside went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2023 while surrounded by her family at her home.
The daughter of Paul J. and Dolly (McGee) Wolfe, she was born in April 10, 1934 in Burnside, PA.
On June 26, 1954, she married John “Jack” H. Siford and shared almost sixty-one years of marriage together prior to his death on February 16, 2015.
Betty was a member of the CMA Church in Burnside, PA, where she taught Bible School and was fondly known as “the cookie lady.”
She raised her children on a dairy farm in Green Twp. before relocating back to Burnside in the late 1960’s.
Betty enjoyed knitting and making jewelry, especially memory lockets. She was a competitive computer game player, who loved listening to classic country music and Elvis.
A much loved mother and grandmother, Betty will be sadly missed by her five children: Pam Reid and husband Gary; John “Pete” Siford; Annie Yeager and husband Jim; Terry Siford and wife Barb and Dan Siford and wife Joann; her twelve grandchildren, her twenty-seven great-grandchildren and her sister, Demaris Sunderlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack; her daughter, Robin Freno on Feb. 10, 2015; her daughter-in-law, Clare Siford; her son-in-law, Randy Freno; her great granddaughter, Lizzie Siford and her four brothers and three sisters.
In honor of Betty’s wishes to be cremated, there will not be any visitation. An 11:00 a.m. memorial
service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church located at 342 Lipp Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15757. A luncheon will follow the service.
