Mary Anne Kent, age 89 of South Yarmouth, formerly of Brockton, died peacefully November 3, 2023 at Cape Cod Hospital. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary M. (Gorman) Kent.
Anne was a graduate of Brockton High School and Regis College. She spent her junior year in Fribourg, Switzerland where she developed a lifetime of friendships and experiences. After graduation, she dedicated one year to the Lay Apostolate in Alaska where she served at Catholic mission schools. Her experiences there, both with the children and her peers, shaped her life. She was employed by the CIA in Washington prior to taking on the Executive Assistant role at IBM Corporation in Waltham where she worked for many years.
Anne was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, skiing and spending time with family and friends. She volunteered for years at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton providing a welcome smile and information to the hospital’s staff and visitors. Above all, Anne was passionate about her faith and the respect for life.
Anne is survived by her sister Claire C. Hamill of Glastonbury, CT. She is the sister of the late Charles J. Kent Sr. and Edward F. Kent Sr. and Aunt of the late Peter Divicino of Glastonbury, CT. She is the beloved “Auntie” to Edward Kent Jr., John Kent, Chris Kent, Maura (Kent) Thursby, Mary Anne (Divicino) Anagnos, Joe Divicino, Charles J. Kent Jr., Mary Kent, Ellen (Kent) Chrysogelos, and Christine (Kent) Piekarski as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Tuesday, November 7th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
