Carl C. Santos, Sr. 68, of New Bedford, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Cancer on Thursday October 26,2023 at St Luke's Hospital.
He was born in New Bedford in 1955 to, the late Joseph A. and Mary G (Vieira)Santos, Carl lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by SRTA as a bus driver until his retirement.
Carl was a devoted father who always supported his family and took delight and pride in their accomplishments and their presence, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Riding his motorcycle always brought him pleasure, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, the great outdoors and he had a love for music. He was also known for his phenomenal sense of humor. Over the past couple of years Carl faced many medical obstacles with bravery and determination; He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Carl C. Santos, Jr. and Lakota Santos both of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Monique Santos and Kara Santos, both of New Bedford, Tami Libby-Santos and her wife Heather of Taunton and Carlissa Santos of Monticello, FL, a brother, Sebastian Santos and his wife Shirley of New Bedford, 3 sisters, Joanne Lopes and her husband Robert of New Bedford, Roxann Medeiros and her husband Jeffrey of Dartmouth, and Cheryl Lee Santos of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Richard Smalley and Linda Ann Santos.
His family would like to thank the South Coast Hospice Team, and the staff on Century 4 at St. Luke's for the wonderful Care Carl received.
His Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 9th at 12 Noon at Rural Cemetery, section 203. A gathering will be held at Monte Pio Luso-American Corp. 540 South Orchard St. New Bedford following his burial.
