AGAWAM - Victor M. Joseph, 92, of Agawam and a former longtime resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 3, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on December 31, 1930, a beloved son of the late Michael and Rachida (Arooth) Joseph. He attended Springfield schools and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Agawam in 1976. Vic served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, received the National Defense Service Medal and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was the owner of Joseph's Liquors on Chestnut Street in Springfield for many years. Vic was an active communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield where he served as Vice Chairman of the Cedar's Banquet Hall, was a Past President of the Men's Club, a former President of the Parish Council, Vice Chairman of the Church Bingo, a member of the Home City 63 Knights of Columbus in West Springfield and a member of the American Legion Post 185 in Agawam. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his church family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa A. "Teri" (Moran) Joseph who was Called Home on June 27, 2002; and his loving daughter, Victoria T. Joseph who was Called Home on August 2, 2009. He leaves his devoted son, Stephen M. Joseph of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition, he was predeceased by his ten dear siblings, Edward, Frank, Joseph and Frederick Joseph, Sadie Johnson, Athena Dulligan, Mary Grunander, Freda McCarthy, Louise Kenney and Victoria Winard. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visiting Hour on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (at the Church) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
