Obituary

Scott Paul Francis, 70 of Salem, Massachusetts, passed away on October 24, 2023, at Salem Hospital after a long illness. He was born on June 21, 1953, in Salem.
Scott was a man of many accomplishments and deep-rooted values. Born and raised in Salem, he developed a passion for flying at a young age. Selected to be part of the Civil Air Patrol, after that he soared to new heights, making his first solo flight as a private pilot before even obtaining a driver’s license.
In 1978 Scott was chosen by the Navy to attend Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. After graduation, he served as a Tactical Aircraft Officer, flying F14as a RIO, with the call sign Spanky. Scott completed multiple tours on various carriers and fighter squadrons and participated in the Libyan campaign. He was honored to have been selected to attend TopGun, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication.
After his military service, Scott transitioned into a successful career as a certified financial advisor and later managed financial call centers until his retirement.
However, his true joy came from being a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 46 years, Leanne (Tache’) Francis, and a caring father to his two sons, Ross andAdam.
Scott’s life was not solely defined by his professional achievements; he also found solace and fulfillment in simple pleasures. Gardening was his sanctuary, a place where he could nurture vibrant blooms and find peace amidst nature’s beauty He cherished time spent tending to his yard, creating a haven of tranquility. Additionally, he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy. Additionally, he enjoyed the companionship of his two French bulldogs, who brought him unconditional love.
Scott is survived by his wife, Leanne M. Francis; son, Ross A. Francis and his wife, Lisa (Morin) and their two children, Paige and Piper Francis of Boxford, Ma; son, Adam M. Francis and his wife, Claire Tang, and their two children Eleanor (Ellie) and Lincoln Francis of Hong Kong and his brother Paul and sister in law Elisabeth (Brennan) Francis, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Charlotte (Homan ) Francis of Salem.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem. His memorial service will be on Saturday at 10:00 AM, in the funeral home and will be followed by a military burial that will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
