Carl Allen Abbott, 74, of Tifton passed away Friday, January 14, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2005, at Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey and the Rev. Eddie Allen officiating. Mr. Abbott was laid to rest at Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
Johnny Mack Brown, Bobby Johnson, Tony Price, Randy Carr, Ray Abbott, Jr., Allen Brown, Lee Brown and Jeff Brown served as pallbearers.
Born September 7, 1930, in Turner County, Mr. Abbott was the son of the late Carris Sidney Abbott and Rosa Lee Wheeler Abbott. He was a retired Mayflower truck driver; and he was a member of Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County. He loved hunting and fishing; and he was a veteran of the United Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife, Doris Brown Abbot of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Cindy Abbott of Tifton and Gary and Teresa Abbott of Enigma; one brother, Ray Abbott of Albany; one sister, Marthlyn A. Carr of Tifton; five grandchildren, Mitchell Abbott, Lacey Abbott, Michelle Abbott, Brett Abbott and Cody Abbott; and two step-grandchildren, Parker Browne and Alison Browne.
