Alessandro Bertone, 83

Dateline: Norton, MA

Alessandro “Alex” Bertone, age 83, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine L. (Grise) Bertone.

Born in Sant’ Angelo in Grotte, Provincia of Campobasso, Italy on June 12, 1940, he was a loving son of the late Nicola and Filomena (Bertone) Bertone.

Alex grew up and began his education in Italy. In 1955, his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Franklin. He was educated in Franklin schools and continued his studies, attending Northeastern University to become a Draftsman and later an Engineer.

Mr. Bertone had made his home in Norton for the past fifty-six years and prior to retiring, was employed as an Engineer at the Foxboro Co. for thirty-five years. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and was a former member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

Alex’s happiest times by far were those spent with his adoring family. He enjoyed listening to classical music, building audio equipment, playing tennis, and loved watching soccer and football.

In addition to his beloved wife Lorraine, he is survived by his devoted children: Peter F. Bertone and his wife Anna of Alabama, John A. Bertone and his wife Michelle of Attleboro and Joanna E. Bertone of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Kaylie, Amelia, Carina, Vivienne, Parker and Hadley. He was the dear brother of the late Felice “Felix” Bertone.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, November 5th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 6th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Newland Cemetery in Norton.
