WEBSTER – Leonard F. “Jake” Jacob, 75, died Monday, October 30, 2023 in UMass Harrington, Southbridge, after a period of declining health.
He leaves a son, Christopher S. Jacob of Hyannis a daughter, Wendy E. Jacob of Stafford Springs, CT; 4 grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sandra Jacob of Webster; nephews and cousins. His brother, Robert Jacob, preceded him in death.
He was born on October 1, 1948 in Webster, the son of Leonard and Frances (Spiewak) Jacob and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1966, where he excelled in basketball, baseball and football. He attended Ottawa University in Kansas and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.
Mr. Jacob owned and operated Jacob Paving in Webster for many years. He also was the foreman of several companies before retiring in 1997.
He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica. He enjoyed ice fishing and dancing. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 17, at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 16 in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street. Donations in his name may be made to Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570.
