GILFORD ---- Susan Grace (Marcoux) Morin, 70, succumbed to lung cancer on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a year-long and tenacious battle.
She held court, as only Susan could, right up until the very end surrounded by family and many of the women she mentored over the years as Resident Director of Camp Bernadette in Wolfeboro. Her enduring passion was empowering young women to achieve their life goals, whether they be in medicine, education, social work or motherhood. This was an innate strength of Susan’s. Her dignity and courage at the end proved yet another and final lesson for those who admired and loved her.
Susan was born in White Plains, NY on September 28, 1953 to the late Rocco and Blanche Tomaselli. After earning her MSW at UCONN she worked for many years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the State of Connecticut while living in West Hartford, CT and in later years at Lakes Region Community Services in Laconia, NH.
Susan lived in Gilford with her husband of 22 years, Donald Morin, Jr. and their grandson, Dante Morin. She was very much looking forward to guiding him through high school beginning this fall. She will be sorely missed by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Cara Marcoux of Tolland, CT, as well as her daughter, Elizabeth Marcoux Bodoh and husband Jake, and their 3-year-old daughter Gwen of Dover, NH. Gwen was the apple of her grandmother’s eye. She will also leave a great void in the lives of her step-sons, Perry Morin of Lakeport, NH and Charles Morin with his partner Krystal Hibbard, and their daughter Charlotte Morin, of Laconia, NH.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 12:00pm-3:00pm, at Ember Wood Fired Grill in Dover, NH. Anyone whose life Susan touched is encouraged to attend.
Her camp community, being spread worldwide, is in the planning stages of a second Celebration of Life in the spring allowing more to come share stories and provide mutual solace and comfort. In the meantime, please love and support one another.
