Marilyn Elizabeth (Landry) Smith, 92, of Franklin, formerly of Medway, died October 30 at Milford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Allen Smith who died in 2010.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts September 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Jordon) Landry, Marilyn was raised in Cambridge and lived in Medway for 62 years prior to moving to Franklin last year. She had a brother Ralph and a sister Belle.
She was a graduate of Cambridge High School where she was Salutatorian of her graduating class. She also graduated from Salem State College with a bachelor’s degree.
Marilyn was an elementary school teacher in Medway for many years before her retirement. After she retired, she volunteered in the Medway school system for several years.
Marilyn and her late husband Allen spent the winter months in Fountain Hills, Arizona, and they were active in the Medway VFW. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
She is survived by her son Scott Smith of Marietta, Georgia and her granddaughter Laura Smith Long of Raleigh, North Carolina.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a date to be announced later.
