Obituary

CHICOPEE – Daniel Boutin, 84, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Chicopee on April 13, 1939, a beloved son of the late Alfred J. and Florida (Yergeau) Boutin. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He served his country in the United States Air Force with the 84th Fighter Group during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam Era, and attained the rank of Airman Second Class. He furthered his education and attended Western New England College in Springfield. He retired in 1988 after 41 years of service as the Manager of Distribution Services for Spalding Sports Worldwide Companies including Spalding Sports, Top Flite Golf, Etonic Shoe, Dudley Softball and International Sales. He was appointed a member of the Chicopee Building Commission in 1960. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the American Legion Post 337 in Chicopee, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Chicopee Moose Family Center. He served as a volunteer at the Chicopee Court Probation Department, Chicopee High School and the Red Cross Blood Donation Center in Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife, Kathleen M. (Pendergast) Boutin; his three loving children, Suzanne M. Besner and her husband, William, of South Hadley, Daniel M. Boutin and his wife, Lorraine, of Chicopee and Diane M. LaPlante of Chicopee; his three loving step children, Sheryl Yelinek and her husband, Jim, of Feeding Hills, Michael Boutin and his partner, Janice Kelly, of Springfield and Laura Hunt and her husband, Bryan, of Agawam; his 12 cherished grandchildren, Christine M. Robinson, Timothy D. Gillette, William E. Robinson, William A. Besner II, Stephen L.A. Besner, Matthew E. Besner, Jason C. Besner, Kelly M. Vachon, Keri A. LaPlante, Kristy L. Molinari, Kyle R. LaPlante and Kurt D. LaPlante; his nine cherished step grandchildren, James Yelinek, Jr., Alyssa Yelinek, Jeffrey Yelinek, Kyleigh Oliveira, Quinnlyn Hunt, Sharelle Mollison, Michael Boutin, Jr., Nicole Boutin and Matthew Boutin; his cherished 12 great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Joyce A. (Dombek) Boutin who was Called Home on November 15, 1996; his two dear brothers, Rodolph “John” Boutin and Alfred Boutin; and his two dear sisters, Lucille St. Marie and Rita Cammick. His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon followed by a Prayer Service at 12 Noon at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
