Toby A. (Coverdale) Thomas

Toby A. (Coverdale) Thomas, 71, of Chesterfield passed away at her residence on October 30, 2023 following an extended illness.
She was born on October 29, 1952 in Anderson to the late Thomas Earl Coverdale and Betty (Davis) Clapper. She was a 1970 graduate of Anderson High School. She graduated with her LPN from J. Everett Light where she was the Valedictorian of her class. She worked as an LPN for over 30 years at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield and Bethany Pointe Health Campus.
She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed her water garden especially feeding her fish and the waterlilies. She loved her dogs and cats.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy “Tim” Thomas of Chesterfield whom she married on August 21, 1969; her three sons, Scott (Yvonne) Thomas, Shawn Thomas, and Chris Thomas all of Anderson; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; five siblings, Sheila (Mike) Rogers of Chesterfield, Jane Coverdale of Anderson, Richard “Buzz” (Marcia) Anderson of Lapel, Linda (James) Thompson and Mike (Dana) Clapper all of Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Toni (Doug) Knopp of Hemet, CA and Leslie (Jack Parker) Thomas of Elwood; a brother-in-law, Pat Thomas of San Diego, CA; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Thomas Earl and Mil Coverdale; her mother and stepfather, Betty (Davis) and Lyle Clapper; a grandson, Derrick Thomas; a sister, Cathy Bowyer and a stepsister, Brenda Whetsel.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Leslie Thomas for all of her loving care and support.
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Protection League.
