CHICOPEE - Irene (Gietek) Foley, 91, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 29, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the love and care of her husband, Jerry and her family. She was born in Westfield on September 10, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Alexandra (Plowna) Gietek. She was raised in Westfield, graduated from Westfield Public Schools and lived in the city for many years. Irene furthered her education and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the former Westfield State Teacher's College. She was employed as an Elementary School Teacher for the Westfield Public Schools. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate of over 63 years, Gerald F. "Jerry" Foley; her two loving children, Kathleen M. Lubrano and her husband, Vincent, of Lewes, DE and Michael J. Foley and his fiancée, Jennifer C. Stuart, of Easthampton; her cherished grandson, James D. Lubrano and his partner, Janet Hernandez; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her funeral will be private and her burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. There are no visiting hours.
