Obituary

Michael P. Ficociello, DDS, age 76, a 43-year resident of Winchester, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2023. He was the beloved husband for 42 years of Karen A. (Faraco) Ficociello.

Born in Cambridge, MA, Michael was the son of the late Michael and Louise (Mercadante) Ficociello. He was raised on Thatcher Street in the North End of Boston and graduated from the Boston Latin School in 1965. He then attended Stonehill College in Easton Ma and went on to Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington DC.

Following his graduation from dental school Michael joined his brother Ralph, also a dentist, creating the Ficociello & Ficociello practice at 1 Bulfinch in Boston. Upon Ralph’s retirement Michael moved his practice to 10 Tremont St. in Government Center. To Michael everything was a family affair, and his work was no exception. Both Michael’s sisters worked in the practice, as did friends who became family. Michael was an accomplished dentist whose “chair-side” manner was exceptionally warm and caring.

Michael lived a compassionate and joyful life with his wife Karen and daughter Laura. Whether spending time in Winchester, Boston, Cape Cod, New York or Florida, Michael was just happy to be with his family. Michael enjoyed playing golf on Sundays with his long-time friends. The beach was a place of happiness for Michael, he loved entertaining at their beach house. Michael welcomed five grandchildren into his life and was forever devoted to them as they are to him.

As mentioned, in addition to his wife, Dr. Ficociello is lovingly survived by his daughter, Laura Ficociello Dranschak and her husband Justin, of Winchester and Blacklick, Ohio.

He was also the beloved Papa of Lilyana Pearl, Justin Michael, Jr., Sophina Joy, Raphael Blaise and Daxton Ficociello Dranschak. He was the dear brother of Marlene Capodilupo and her late husband Peter, of Medford, Sandra Ficociello and her partner Arthur Bounopane of Winchester, the late Ralph A Ficociello and his surviving wife Phyllis, of Winchester, and the late Vincenza Ficociello. He was the loved brother-in-law of Frank L. Faraco Sr. and wife Linda, Punta Gorda, FL and Valerie Giorgione (Faraco) and husband Ronald of Stoneham. Michael will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and patients.
