Nancy E. (Ross) Dempsey, 81, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt of Hanson, Massachusetts. Peacefully passed away Sunday, October 29 in her home surrounded by family.
Born on February 23rd 1942, in Jamaica Plain, MA. Daughter of Edna Baldwin and Hugh Ross. Nancy graduated from Jamaica Plain High, where she met the love of her life Edgar W. Dempsey. Married in 1964 and soon after moved to Hanson.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 59 years Edgar with their three children. Son Glen Dempsey and his wife Janine of East Bridgewater MA, son Gary Dempsey and his wife Donna of Manchester NH, and daughter Gayle Howard and her husband Darrell, of Hanson MA. Grandkids Ryan and his wife Abby of Houston TX, Patrick and his wife Lisa of Hanson MA, Kassandra, Hannah, Korey, Hunter, and one great grandchild Caroline. She is also survived by her brother Neil Ross of Hanson MA along with many loved nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Nancy was a homemaker and special needs bus driver for many years. She enjoyed time with family and friends, especially at York Beach, Maine. She was an avid follower and supporter of her kids and grandkids sporting teams. Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and friends at cookouts and holiday parties. When not spending time with others, Nancy enjoyed staying home crocheting and supporting the QVC network.
Family and friends are invited to attend Nancy’s visiting hours on Thursday, November 2nd, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman MA, 02382. Followed by a church service on Friday, November 3rd at 10:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Hanson, 639 High Street. A burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave. Buzzards Bay MA 02542 on Monday November 6th at 10:00 AM.
The family would like to thank the Hanson Fire Department and Old Colony Hospice for assisting the family throughout Nancy's declining heath.
