Robert L. Fontaine, 75, of Westport passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Janet (Lapointe) Fontaine.
Born in Glen Cove, NY, son of the late Louis A. and Agnes (Nitkewicz) Fontaine, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. He was the owner / operator of Robert's T.V. Repair Shop in Fall River prior to working for Cornell Dublier and Aerovox as an electrical engineer. He then later on went to work at Fall River Municipal Credit Union. He was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. A skilled carpenter and woodworker, he also enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, traveling, reading and photography. He loved spending time watching his grandchildren play sports and having Sunday dinners with his family.
Including his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Kevin P. James and his wife Julie of Somerset and Chad A. James of Westport; 6 grandchildren: Connor, Noah, Jason, Cora, Cameron and Kyla; 2 sisters-in-law: Vivian Beaudry and her husband William and Diane Lapointe; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11:30 A.M.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home prior to the Mass.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
