Obituary

Daniel Connelly, 76, of Englewood, NJ, but formerly of Norfolk, MA died peacefully on October 26 in his home.
He was the husband of the late Susan Schanz Connelly who died in 2020.

He is survived by his son, Christian Connelly and his wife Carrie Connelly and grandson Cooper Connelly of Wyckoff, NJ; his brother Terrence Connelly of Palo Alto, CA, his sister Carolyn Connelly of West Roxbury, MA, and his sister Virginia Connelly of Pelham, NY.

Daniel, known mostly as Dan, or Danny to those closest to him, was born in Lincoln, NE where he attended Pius X High School. He attended both the University of Nebraska and the University of Kansas in pursuit of his degree in Physical Therapy.

Dan then made his way to the Boston area and achieved his first role with the Easter Seals as a traveling PT. It was during this time that he also met the love of his life, Susan and before long, they settled in the small suburb of Millis.

Dan continued his work, being one of the unique PTs that specialized in “Inpatient Care”, forming wonderful relationships with patients, and giving hope to those who were in the most serious of conditions. In continued pursuit of excellence Dan also obtained his Master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University – paving the way for several management roles at the New England Baptist Hospital and Cardinal Cushing Hospital.

And despite a record of professional achievement, his proudest moment came upon the birth of his only son, Christian. A loyal and dedicated father, Dan served as the consummate provider, giving his all to ensure that his son had every opportunity that the world could give.

Over the years Dan’s interests evolved – from following the local Boston sports teams, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots, to finding his love for travel with his wife Susan both within New England as well as Europe. They also shared a love for jazz and frequented both local clubs and concerts. And while hobbies were always of interest, Dan was at his happiest when with his family – inclusive of both his direct relatives and dear friends. Whether it be a large party, the world-famous Connelly and Buglewicz reunions, or simply a small get together with another couple or his brother & sisters, there was always a sense of genuine excitement for Dan in the moments before their arrival. And Dan’s quick wit and dry humor were always a hallmark of family gatherings.
