Althea Elizabeth Castellani (aka Dolly) of Putnam Valley, NY passed peacefully into heaven on October 22, 2023 at Melech Hospice House in Tampa Fl after a brief stay at Haven ALF in Tampa. Mrs. Castellani lived to be 89 years old.
Mrs. Castellani worked as the owner of Valley Crafts for about 5 years in Putnam Valley NY. She also worked as a part-time florist in Putnam Valley.
Mrs. Castellani was born on September 2, 1934 at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx NY to John and Henrietta Fosnar.
On January 15, 1954 she married the love of her life, Eugene Evans Castellani at Ladd AFB in Fairbanks Alaska. They ended up having four Children; Dolly, Peter, Gene and Dana.
Mrs. Castellani lived with her son Peter and wife Ellen for the last 8 years in Land O’Lakes Fl. Before that she lived in the same house in Putnam Valley for over 50 years. She grew up in Tarrytown NY before getting married in Alaska.
Mrs. Castellani was an avid artist and gardener. She enjoyed painting, miniatures, aquariums, quilting, sewing and many other crafts. She loved cooking and played Marjong most of her adult life. Her favorite things were loving her family and her Lord, Jesus. She religiously prayed and read her bible. She was an active member at Grace UMC in Putnam Valley.
She is survived by two sons; Peter/Ellen Castellani and Eugene/Dani Castellani and her Daughter-in-law, Carolyn Castellani. She has many Grandchildren; Dawn & Jackie, Christine, David & Anthony, Louis, Isabel & Victoria and Hope. There are also many great grandchildren.
Family members that passed before her are her husband Eugene Castellani – 1993, her daughter Dolly Castellani – 2011, her son Dana Castellani – 2003 and her parents, John Fosnar – 1997 and Henrietta Fosnar – 2000.
Visitation Friday Nov 3, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 am at Curry Giordano Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Religious Services at 10:30 am with interment following at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY. Friends may send memorial donations to Grace United Methodist Church, 337 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. Reception following burial at the United Methodist Church, Putnam Valley, NY.
