Clayton M. Soucy, 74, of Derry, NH, passed away after courageously battling a very long illness on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at his residence. He was born on July 3, 1949, in Van Buren, ME, a son of Wilfred and Alma (Laverdiere) Soucy. Clayton has been a resident of Derry for the past 15 years, formerly living in St John Plantation, Maine.
Clayton was a Vietnam Veteran and served his country with pride and dedication. He worked as a logger and was often fondly called “The Paul Bunyan up in the Northern Maine woods.”
Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Anna Soucy of Derry and daughter, Marla Soucy and son in law Jim Krueger of Derry; three grandchildren, Scarlet, Holden and Ian, three step-grandchildren, Jameson, Brody and Trevor; his brother, Donald Laverdiere; three sisters, Mary Anne Heinz, Thelma Pelletier, and Tammy Nadeau. He has many nieces and nephews that he was very proud of. In addition to his parents, Clayton was predeceased by his brothers, Roger Soucy, Michael Soucy, Kenneth Soucy; and his sister, Cindy Soucy.
Following cremation, there are no immediate services scheduled, but the family is planning a celebration of life event for Clayton’s birthday on July 3 in 2024, at his home in Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty House, a program dedicated to providing housing and therapeutic services to homeless Veterans in Manchester, NH.
