James (Jim) N. Wilson, (90), of Anderson, Indiana passed away on October 24, 2023.
He was born in Frankfort, IN to Orville and Juanita Wilson. He graduated from Anderson High School and attended Ball State before serving in the Army and marrying his wife of 66 years, Jayne Ann Wilson.
Jim will be remembered for his positive outlook on EVERYTHING. No matter what challenges he experienced in life, no matter what tragedy or setback, he chose to get back up, learn from it, smile, and move on. This is a trait that served him well, and he tried to share with all who knew him.
He will also be remembered as always being on the move. If he wasn’t on the tennis court (giving a lesson to anyone who’d let him buy them a racquet), he could be found at work, loving his grandchildren, or supporting his local “go-to” restaurants.
Jim started his accounting practice with a focus on farming operations and has maintained many of those same clients spanning multiple generations. Over the years his practice served clients across 5 states. He hosted his own TV show (Ag Day), became an author, and he ran various seminars for clients and peers in his industry to share his expertise. But, in Anderson, Jim was mostly known for his love of tennis. He was on the court at least 6 days a week playing, teaching, or practicing by himself. And after tennis or before work, he could be spotted supporting local businesses like Deluxe Donuts, Panera, Lemon Drop, Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Texas Roadhouse and more. He was on a first name basis at these restaurants because of his sweet smile and generosity. Jim was a server himself during his time in the Army, so it wasn’t enough for him to tip his server well, he would tip all the other workers on duty, including the cooks. His generosity was unmatched.
Jim also loved supporting his family, just ask his grandchildren. He would be their taxi driver to and from practices or games, and he would attend every event he could. Even if it wasn’t an activity in which he was interested, he would be in the stands or in the audience to show his support. He taught us the importance of being present for the ones we love. This was never more evident than on the annual family trip to the smokey mountains. Having everyone together, with grandkids and great grandkids running around brought him great joy. And the memories of him sitting on the porch at Cabin 11, book in hand and highlighter in his mouth, or blowing bubbles on that same porch with the little ones or playing 9-hole golf (family card game) are some of our most cherished memories that we will carry with us the rest of our lives.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jayne Ann, their 3 children; Randy (Becky) Wilson, Nancy (Todd) Louden, Tom (Kim) Wilson, 9 grandchildren; Adria (Kevin) Sullivan; Taylor (Jayson) Koerselman; Mackenzie (Shawn) Stinson; Abbey (BJ) Sullivan; Caroline Wilson; Connor (Savannah) Wilson; Carly, Drew, and Leonie Wilson and 8 great grandchildren; Finley and Farrah Sullivan; Harper, Penelope and Lola Koerselman; Theo and Cam Stinson; and Alec Sullivan. He is also survived by his brother Dick (late wife Joyce) Wilson and sister Pam (Tim) Lawlis. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Myrtle, and brothers Terry and Ron.
Jim’s family will host a public visitation Thursday November 2, 2023, from 2pm-5pm, followed by a memorial service at 5pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson, IN.
