Ignatidis, Georgia (Grigoriou) of Norwood formerly of Dedham and Roslindale, October 26, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Emmanuel Ignatidis. Loving daughter of the late Philippos and Triantafyllia (Alvanoy) Grigoriou. Devoted mother of Demos Ignatidis and his loving partner Eleni Mertiri of Roslindale, Triandafilia Foley and her husband Kevin Foley of Norwood. Georgia adored both her children’s spouses and she loved them like her own son and daughter. Loving and devoted grandmother “Yiayia” of Kevin and Gia Foley. Sister of Maria Anagnostellis and her husband Sotirios of Sydney, Australia and Ioannis Grigoriou and his wife Valerie Anagnostellis of Lesvos, Greece. Georgia is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by family and friends in the United States, Greece and Australia.
Georgia was born and raised in the village of Lisvori of Lesvos Island in Greece. She got married and immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1973 with only a suitcase in hand. Georgia always had a warm and inviting home. No one ever left her house with an empty stomach. Georgia loved to cook. She and her husband were the former owner and cook of the Blue Star Restaurant in Roslindale. Her cooking specialty was in Greek cuisine. She was known for making the best grape leaves and spinach pie around. Georgia had a keen fashion sense and always looked her best.
Georgia loved flowers and had a passion for gardening. Every summer she would plant a large vegetable garden with her husband. Her yard would be adorned by a countless variety of flowers.
Visitation at the St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Ave. Roslindale on Tuesday, October 31, from 9am-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
