LOWELL Manuel N. Meneses, 78 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria M. (Toste) Meneses with whom he shared over 50 years together.
He was born on January 19, 1945 in Terciera, Azores, Portugal and was a son of the late Manuel and Marguerite (Borges) Meneses. He was raised in the Terciera, where he worked as a farmer and served with the Portuguese Military. In 1982 he relocated to California, where he continued working as a farmer, until eventually moving to Massachusetts in 1986, settling in Lowell where he made his forever home.
Manuel worked as a machine operator at Prince Packaging and then Americraft for many years until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed taking care of his home including, gardening, painting, yard work. He was often found outside working home up keeping his home. He was also a soccer fan, especially looked forward to the World Cup, and also enjoyed watching wrestling.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his four sons, Orlando Meneses and his companion, Donna Heath of Lowell, Adrian Meneses and his wife, Nina of Pelham, NH, Libanio Meneses and his wife, Crystal of Sandown, NH, and Paul Meneses and his companion, Amanda Ullon of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren, Brian Meneses, Mikalya Meneses, Mila Meneses, Bobby Cartier, and Giada Meneses.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, friends and extended family members including Robert Cartier of Lowell, and his sister in the Azores.
He was predeceased by his daughters, the late Cecilia Maria Meneses and the late Marguerite Meneses; and he was also predeceased by his brother.
