September 29, 1951 - October 23, 2023
Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, Friend

Michael Oliver Sparrock better known as ‘Sparky’ was born in Barbados to Wilma Elaine Baker
Sparrock and Clyde Oliver Sparrock. Michael passed away peacefully on October 23 after a long
battle with gastric cancer.

Michael attended the Parkinson Secondary School while in Barbados. In Barbados, Michael worked for the Barbados Sanitation Authority. Michael immigrated to the USA in 1980 and worked various jobs until he was offered a position as a temporary employee at the Massachusetts Port Authority. He later transitioned to full time employment in roles such as tow truck driver and painter for more than 25 years. Michael was an avid cyclist who competed in events in Barbados and other Caribbean islands. He loved watching westerns and kung-fu movies, shopping at consignment stores looking for deals, as well as cooking - he loved a good meal with lots of gravy. Michael was friendly and loved to laugh. He often went out his way to help others.

About four years ago, Michael became a member of The Church of the Holy Spirit and faithfully
attended service until COVID and eventually his health started to decline. He was faithful about
watching service online and reflecting on Rev. Zenetta Armstong’s sermons. Michael often talked about the goodness of God and how He allowed him to live for almost six years beyond the doctor’s prognosis of three to six months.

Michael is survived by his four children, Sherrianne Sparrock-Sandiford, Lesa Davis, Jermain
Sparrock and Malia Sparrock. Three siblings, Sonia Harding, Beverley Sobers and Sandra Sparrock. Son in-law Darnley Sandiford: Brother in-laws David Harding and Henderson Sobers; Four grandchildren, Deidrea, Michelle, Kamiya and Kameron; Three great-grandchildren Kemari, Zayne and Zarah; also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as the Ward and Clement families in USA, Canada, and Barbados. His close friends: Garth Tomlinson, Alfred ‘Pato’ Mahabir, Whitstanley Smith, Henderson Blackman, the Durant family, and a host of other friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Wilma Sparrock, sister Janice Riley and brother Ronville Sparrock.

May God rest his soul and hold him in his eternal hands.
