Maury Keith Barnett, 81, of Chester, N.H., died on Monday, October 23, 2023, in his home. He was born on July 14, 1942, in Punxsutawney, Pa., son of Maurice and Virgina (Parsons) Barnett.
He is survived by two daughters, Paige Westfall of Chester, N.H., and Meredith Barnett of Los Angeles, Calif., as well as his grandson, Benson, and son-in-law, James Westfall. Keith is predeceased by his wife, Constance (Kolb) Barnett; his son, Kyle Barnett; and his sister, Ann Barnett.
Keith was raised in Melbourne, Fla., and served in the Air Force. He studied at University of South Florida and interned for NASA. He managed National Airport in Washington, D.C., and continued to work as Chief Safety Inspector for the FAA in New England until his retirement in 2003.
He was fondly known as “Junk Yard Dog” amongst his colleagues for his keen eye and high safety standards. He was jovial and quick witted and always good for a chuckle. He is beloved by his three cats: Elliot, Lily, and Charlie.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Home & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, N.H. A time of remembrance will start at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to his daughters. A donation will be made to The Heart Foundation.
