Mae Shelton McCrackin Cheshire, 99, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Conway Harris officiating. Mrs. Cheshire will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mike Evers, Jerry Musgrove, Hunter Mowbray and Austin Mowbray will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 24, 1924, in Reform, Alabama, Mrs. Cheshire was the daughter of the late Rosie Shelton Bobo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Cheshire; one son, William Marvin McCrackin; and two daughters, Betty Jean McCrackin Scarberry and Gloria Collier. Before retiring, she worked as a spinner at Milliken Carpet Mills. She was a member of Believers Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Cheshire is survived by one son, Lewis Edward McCrackin of Tifton; three daughters, Louise Lamee of Jacksonville, Florida, Rosa Marie Ethridge of Mississippi and Sandra Mishue of Alabama; one brother, Jack David Bobo of Millport, Alabama; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
