Marcelina Miranda Lopes, 62, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, daughter of the late Geronio Lopes Mendes and Victoria Miranda, she moved to the United States in 2009.
Marcelina was a very hard worker. She always held multiple jobs to make sure her family was cared for. She was well known as a fantastic cook, always bringing meals to those who needed it.
Survivors include her children, Eugenia Miranda Lopes, Ana Maria Lopes Tavares, Maria Alice Lopes dePina, Maria Jose Lopes dePina, Mario Jorge Lopes daSilva, Madalena Lopes daSilva, and Eloisa Lopes Gomes; her siblings, Madalena Lopes, Idilia Lopes, Margarida Lopes, Bifina Lopes, Ana Dias, Isabel Lopes, and Maria Lopes; 25 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, October 28th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Her visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8 PM.
