Gary Dean Neal

ANDERSON--Gary Dean Neal, 59, of Anderson, passed away October 15, 2023, at his home after a battle with multiple health issues.
He was born on February 24, 1964, in New Castle, Indiana to W.L. Neal and Lillian (Huckabee) Neal. Gary was employed for many years as groundskeeper for the Anderson Public Library, in addition to working for the DNR at various state parks and operating his own lawn care business.
Gary was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and attending family gatherings. He had many hobbies including attending NASCAR and other racing events, watching the Colts play football, woodworking and making portraits with the scroll saw, writing poetry and fiction, playing golf, camping, fishing and reading fantasy novels and watching fantasy movies. He was a collector of dragon figurines and racing memorabilia. He was a humorous man who delighted in making people laugh and feel happy.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rhonda.
He is survived by his children, Blake Neal (Jackie Brown), Doranda Nicely-Key (Jeremy), and Dawnielle Benetiz; seven grandchildren, Davin Key (Lexie), Sydmund Felton, Connor Remington, Brianna Remington, Olivia Nicely-Key, Lillian Nicely-Key and David Nicely-Key; one great-grandchild, Zakoa Key; five siblings, David Neal, Ronnie Neal, Teresa Hill and Sandra Neal-Hinton brother Danny Neal; and special friends Deborah Nicely, Deanna Nicely and Donna Nicely.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral. Details about a celebration of life will be forthcoming.
