Obituary

Robert W. “Bob” Dondero passed away peacefully at home in Medford on October 20, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 91. Raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Amadeo and the late Mabel (Casassa) Dondero.

A lifelong Medford resident, Bob was a loving family man and a great neighbor. He was the beloved husband of his late wife, Virginia M. (Russo) Dondero, and a devoted father to Lori LaPlant and her husband Charles and Lynn Amico and her husband Wayne. He was a loving Grandpa to Samantha, Nicholas, Jennifer, Michael, Steven, Brian, and Stephanie. Bob was a caring Great Grandpa to Katlyn, Christopher, Emily, Madison, Owen, Kyle, Ryan, Dylan, Hailey, Tyler, Amelia, and Zachary.

He is also survived by his sister, Diane Rossi, and many nieces, nephews, family, friends and neighbors. Bob was the brother of the late John Dondero.

Bob was proud of his four years of service in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After the war he served the City of Medford for forty years in the Fire Department. He was a fixture on Engine 2 in West Medford for most of those years.

In his free time, Bob loved going to Seabrook Beach, where he summered for 70 years, and he often fished from the pier there. Bob enjoyed taking his grandchildren out for breakfast, especially to Ute’s Diner. He also enjoyed playing cards or trying his luck with Keno, scratch tickets or the daily number.

Bob enjoyed being outside. He could often be found sitting on his bench or washing his car, which he did daily. He took great care of his lawn and did yard work year round, as he also looked forward to using his snow blower. He loved his neighbors and they loved him. Bob’s family is grateful for their kindness to him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, October 28 from 9 - 11:30 AM, with a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
