Obituary



Harry Megerdichian of Dedham, Massachusetts died peacefully at home on October 20, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Norma (Kennian) Megerdichian for 66 years, and the devoted father of Stephen Megerdichian and his wife, Sosie, and Lori Krikorian. Harry was the loving and cherished grandfather of Taline and Haig Megerdichian, and Jaclyn and Eddy Krikorian.
Harry was born on April 8, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to John Ohannes and Takouyi (Ovian) Megerdichian. Their family moved to Whitinsville, Massachusetts when Harry was young, and they made their home with family and friends in the Armenian community there. Harry was the brother of Mary Bradford and her husband Michael, and was predeceased by his brother Stephen Megerdichian, sister Virginia Leighton. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Harry graduated from Northbridge High School in 1951. He loved to tell stories of his days on the varsity football team, and showcased his “Mr. Football” trophy. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Boston sports teams. Harry was a Korean Conflict Veteran, and was a proud American. He was an Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 103, and would often point out all of the buildings that he worked on when driving through Boston. A highlight of his career was working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in Prudhoe Bay for two years. Upon his return from Alaska, Harry and his wife Norma purchased a home in North Falmouth where they enjoyed and entertained many families and friends over the years. Harry especially loved watching his grandchildren spend each summer together at the cape house. They were his pride and joy.

A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown, Massachusetts on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Church prior to the service, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Stephen’s Armenian Church, or to Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588. Interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
