UPTON_ Marek A. Blat, 44 of Upton, died unexpectedly on October 10, 2023 in Brigham Women’s Hospital, Boston. He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Malgorzata “Mal” Klesna - Blat, his sister, Joanna Blat-Nowak and his aunt Krystyna Krutewicz. He was born in Stalowa Wola, Poland a son of the late Waclaw Blat and Alicja Krutewicz - Blat. He also leaves many friends and family in both Poland and the United States.
Marek worked as a Director of Data Science for Wiser Solutions. He received his education in both Poland and the US earning multiple degrees including a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Engineering from AGH University of Krakow, Master's Degree in Management and Marketing from AGH University of Krakow, Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts Amherst and Master’s Degree in Data Science from Northwestern University. He was also recently admitted to the Artificial Intelligence Master's Program at John Hopkins University; Whiting School of Engineering.
Marek was a loving son, nephew, uncle, brother, great friend and the beloved husband. He always thought about the future, shared his dreams about it and planned to get old with his best friend – his wife. He was loved by his little nephews and niece who could never miss an opportunity to at least say hi to their favorite uncle. Marek had a brilliant mind and multiple interests. Friends recognized him as a wealth of information and enjoyed long discussions with him about any topic. Marek’s favorite season was fall, particularly New England fall with vibrant colors, Halloween decorations and occasional spooky fog. He also loved rainy weather, the sound of it and taking walks in the rain. He was taken away pre-maturely and leaves a big hole in hearts of everyone who were lucky to get to know him.
A period of visitation will be on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester followed by a funeral service in the funeral home. Entombment will be private.
