Peter J. Callaghan, 70, of New Bedford died October 18, 2023 unexpectedly at home.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph T. and Sheila M. (McKoan) Callaghan, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Bank of Boston before retiring from Fairhaven Hardware.
Pete loved fishing and golf but above all, his family.
Survivors include his 3 sisters, Sheila Couto of New Bedford, Angela Kruger and her husband Louis of Acushnet, and Cathleen King of Dartmouth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Callaghan, Jr., Edward Callaghan, Michael Callaghan, John "Pat" Callaghan and Elizabeth Barclay, uncle of the late Jay C. Kruger, Joseph Callaghan, III and Michael Callaghan, Jr. Peter was also predeceased by his fiancée Kathy Duarte and longtime companion "Bones."
His Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 30th at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
