Jean (Foley) Johnson, 79, of Norfolk died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Robert Nicholas Johnson for the past 58 years.
Born in White Plains, New York on April 29, 1944, she was the daughter of the late James and Ann (Gavin) Foley.
Jean was a resident of Norfolk for the past 10 years and formerly resided in Great Barrington. She grew up in Danbury, Connecticut and graduated from Danbury High School in 1962. She earned an associate’s degree from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont.
Before her retirement, she worked as a real estate appraiser for many years.
Jean loved painting, yardsaling and refinishing old furniture. Jean was happiest sitting on the patio of her home in York Beach, Maine, although her favorite pastime was being the babysitter extraordinaire to her beloved grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Jean is survived by three children, Sally Ficken and her husband Gary of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bill Johnson and his wife Katy of Fairfax, Virginia and Julie McMenamy and her husband Matt of Medway and nine grandchildren, Brittany, Maddie, Sophie, Luke, Mickey, Natalie, Bailey, Hannah, and Peyton.
She is also survived by her sister Betty Ann Lewis of Tallahassee, Florida, her brother James Foley of Naples, Florida and three stepsisters, Babs Raftery, Joy Previdi and Ann Martin. She was the sister of the late Peggy Stave and stepsister of the late Richard Targett and Betsy Snell.
In addition to her family, Jean is survived by countless treasured friends in Norfolk and the Berkshires.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, November 4th from 12 –2 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com). Following the calling hours, family and friends are invited to attend a reception at 3-Restaurant, 461 West Central Street in Franklin at 2:30 p.m.
