Clara Mae Cox Pate, 86, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, October 18,2023, at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Mike Bennett officiating. Mrs. Pate will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Oklahoma Baptist Church Cemetery in Pitts (Wilcox County). The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Born May 9, 1937, in Irwin County, Mrs. Pate was the daughter of the late Jimmy Jackson “Jack” Cox and Clara Pearl Taylor Cox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Lamar” Pate; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jake and Mary Ann Cox, Jesse and Carolyn Cox, Herman and Frances Cox and Hazel Cox; and two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Louise and G.D. Tucker, Cora Lee and Willard Bracewell and Willis Roberts. Before retiring, she was a Quality Control Technician at Prestolite Wire in Tifton. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown, where she was a member of the Senior Bells and she was co-president of the Maple Court Resident’s Committee.
Mrs. Pate is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton “Cliff” Lamar and Judy Pate of Tifton and Leonard “Dewayne” and Tammy Pate of Eldorado; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ted Cox of Saint Augustine, Florida; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Henry Cox of Las Vegas, Nevada and Cecil and Nora Cox of Fitzgerald; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dora Mae and James Coburn of Tifton and Vernell Roberts of Virginia; her grandchildren and their spouses, Katrina and Brian Burnum, Jessica and Mark Rhoades, Christine and Chris Ludden and Andrew and Kori Pate; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Burnum, Aubrie Pate and Knox Pate.
