Barbara J. Young passes away at 102
Barbara Young, the oldest resident of Provincetown, MA passed away on October 14, 2023.
Born Barbara H. Jeffrey on May 2, 1921 to parents Charles E. And Edith M. Jeffrey in Boston, MA. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1939 and went on to the Fanny Farmer School of Cookery in Boston.
Barbara married George W. Young on June 21, 1941. The couple resided in Newton, MA. In 1952 the Young family moved to Wayland, where Barbara continued to live for more than 50 years. In 2009 she moved to Provincetown, MA to be closer to her daughter and son-in-Law, Joyce and Dick Silva.
Barbara enjoyed traveling and was active in the National Society of New England Women. She was also a member of the Wayside Inn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Regent on 2 separate occasions.
Barbara leaves her daughters Joyce Silva of Provincetown and Elspeth Davis of Berlin, MA. She also leaves her grandsons, Matthew Silva of Wellfleet and Rick Silva, and his wife Heather, as well as two great-grandchildren, Logan and Charlotte Silva of Raynham.
Internment will be private.
