Ted was raised on eagle's wings to his heavenly Father's arms peacefully at sunrise, from his Ventura home on October 11, 2023.
Born December 12, 1931, a lifelong Ventura resident, son of Ventura native William T. Selby and his wife Millicent Madden Selby. Ted was the eldest of four children, Bill, Jack and Virginia all of whom predeceased him.
Ted was schooled at Saticoy Elementary, Cabrillo Junior High, Ventura High class of 1949. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1957 with a degree in economics. During his college years the Air Force interrupted his schooling for 4 years when he was stationed in Japan.
After college, he met and married Linda Vaughan with whom he shared 65 years of loving marriage.
He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi at Berkeley, Ventura Contractors Association, El Cien Dance Club and the Aviation Country Club of California.
Ted owned Selby Constructors and of note built the Museum of Ventura County among other county buildings and properties. As a fourth generation Venturan he had strong ethics and principals.
Ted's greatest love outside his family was flying the skies in his planes. He and Linda flew the U.S., Mexico, Virgin Islands and a special flight through Canada and Alaska. He flew for fun, adventure, tours with his ACC friends and any excuse to soar through the sky.
Ted leaves his wife Linda, sons Jeff and Leigh Anne Selby, Derek and Anne Selby, daughter Jennifer Selby Pena. He cherished his grandchildren, Jessica Selby and lan Gamble, Weston and Holly Selby, Cole Selby, Maliah Selby Pena and Jack Selby.
Private services will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in Ted's name to the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main St., Ventura, 93001 or a favored charity of your choice.
