Joyce P. (Pettey) Silvia, 76, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home following a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late John V. Silvia, Sr.
Mrs. Silvia was born in Walpole, MA daughter of the late Ralph and Constance R. (Berryman) Pettey and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. She had worked in food service for many years at Village Pizza, Westport, UMass Dartmouth and Olive Garden, Dartmouth. She also worked for Dr. Mouded, Fall River and following retirement, had worked at Lees Market, Westport. Mrs. Silvia enjoyed vacationing to Aruba, going on cruises and the casino.
Survivors include her 2 sons: John V. Silvia, Jr. and his wife Christine of Westport and Kenneth F. Silvia and his wife Jennifer of Westport; her daughter: Linda M. Geada and her husband Richard of Westport; brother: Stephen Pettey of Westport; 10 grandchildren: Brooke, Jenna, Nelson, Gabriella, Jacob, Lauren, Logan, Amber, Abigail and Tyler; 2 great grandchildren: Harrison and Koston; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Linda Pettey.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, October 23, 2023 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday from 3-6 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
