Obituary

GILFORD ---- Mrs. Patricia Snow of Gilford, NH, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2023, after a year of setbacks connected to MS, which she was afflicted by for over fifty years. As a defense she decided to maintain a high level of physical activity.

Patricia was born on August 26, 1936, the daughter of William and Ann (Gebbie) Stafford.

She married her high school sweetheart whom she had known since the age of six, as they both attended dance classes offered by Irene Simpson and performed in recitals and minstrel shows in the early years of WWII at the Colonial Theatre in Laconia.

Both graduated from Laconia High School, Class of 1954, then entered the University of New Hampshire. They married following their sophomore year at UNH. Upon graduation, they moved to Sidney, NY, the home of Bendix Aviation Corp.
Twenty-three years later the company relocated them to Jacksonville, FL for seven years, after which they returned to upstate NY and retired at age 60, to living winters on South Hutchinson Island, FL, and summers on Bear Island in Meredith, NH.

Patricia’s activities included mountain climbing, water-skiing, cross-country skiing, club level western style square dancing, ladies league and couples league in both bowling and golfing. She was a confident and expert power boat operator. Her culinary and sewing skills were exceptional, but she had to wait to pass her talents on until her fourth child was a daughter.
In retirement she annually made hundreds of novelty sweatshirts each fall for sale at craft shows prior to Christmas. She was an outstanding golfer which she demonstrated to husband Wayne on their first date in high school which was a round of golf at Laconia Country Club. He was on the Laconia High School golf team and she beat him.

While living in Jacksonville, FL, they were volunteers at the Tournament Players Club in Ponta Vedra, FL where the world-famous 17th hole island green is located. The first time she played that hole she birdied it, something very few pro-golfers can claim.

Patricia will dearly be missed by her devoted husband of 66 years, sons, Richard Snow and his wife Beatrice of Gilford, David Snow and his wife Karen of Laconia, Antony Snow and his wife Mary of Ontario, NY, daughter Lori (Snow) Schultz and her husband Charles of Laconia, sister Gail Fox and her husband Peter of Ipswich, MA, grandchildren, Nikki, Eric, Chris, Katie, Ashley, Hallie, Casey, Brianna, Rylee and Courtney, fourteen great-grandchildren, along with nephews Tommy and Stevie, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

We wish to thank the staff at Meredith VNA for their marvelous and gentle care given to Patricia this past year, with a special thank you to Terry and Karen.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in Patricia’s name to the National MS Society, PO Box 541617, Waltham, MA 02454-1617.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00am, at Union Cemetery in Laconia, NH, followed by a picnic style gathering for friends and family at ‘Snow’s Pavilion’ around the corner from the cemetery on Lincoln Street.
