Margaret R. “Peggy” (Holton) Cummings, age 74, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Joseph F. Cummings, Sr., to whom she was happily wed for fifty-two years.
Born in Norwood, MA on September 6, 1949, she was a loving daughter of the late Richard M. and Margaret E. (Tierney) Holton.
Peggy grew up in Dedham and was a 1967 graduate of Dedham High School. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had made her home in Norton for the past fifty-one years.
A faithful communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, she served as a former Religious Education Teacher and for many years, volunteered her assistance at Friday Night Bingo and in the Parish Office. Peggy and her husband Joe enjoyed many summers spent in Maine and winters in Florida. Along with her family and friends, Peggy also enjoyed having fun on occasional trips to area casinos.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Kimberly T. Cummings of Michigan, Kristin M. Hall of New York and Joseph F. Cummings, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Beverly. She was the treasured grandmother of Abbie, Damon, Kai, Logan, Ryann, Autumn, Jillian and Veronica. She was the dear sister of Richard Holton and his wife Marie of Dedham and the late Ralph Holton. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, October 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140. Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 25th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, in Norton. Burial will follow at the Newland Cemetery in Norton.
